The State of Florida has mandated that each public school have a police officer on site. Because the former Superintendent and Sheriff would not negotiate between themselves a fair price, the School Police was established under the School Board. I do not feel, with all the School Board has on their plate, they need to be in the policing business. To utilize all police vehicles, personal training, and administrative expenses more efficiently I will be voting for the police to be under the Clay County Sheriff’s office, when the vote comes up in 2 years. This does not mean anyone will lose their current position but just move under the management and training of the CCSO where it belongs. All current School Board candidates agreed to the same in our live televised debate.
