The current Clay County students are our future. Our dedication to them now will produce outstanding outcomes for our community years to come.
School Choice: I believe students are unique and have different needs to excel in life and fulfill their full potential. The school board must strive to meet their individual needs as much as possible.
We crave a range of multiple school opportunities for every student. College preparatory, military, technical, and vocational education should be available. Concept, virtual, public, magnet, and charter schools bring diversity and competition in how classes are taught. If a school is highly demanded and successful, we should not consider closing it.
As every child has different necessities, the top authority on the direction of the child’s education should be his/her parents. Parents know their child the best. Parents are the ones who should make the decision whether to send their students to private school, instruct them in a home school environment, or choose one of the options in the public school system.
As the board, it should be our ultimate duty to see our Clay County students excel after graduation from our school system. The best measurement of a student’s knowledge is not solely what they learn during their time in education, but what they retain after acquiring their education.
